Season of Giving

St. Stephen has several ways to support our community during Advent and Christmas. Look for displays and collection points in the Gathering Area at St. Stephen or contact the church office to find out how to participate — / 515-276-4628.

Adopt a Senior — Contribute gifts for seniors who are unable to leave their home or be with family this Christmas. A list of items can be found in the Gathering Area; gifts should not be wrapped. Return to the big gift-wrapped box in the Gathering Area.

Adopt-A-Family — St. Stephen partners with UCAN (Urbandale Community Action Network) and Family Promise to make Christmas brighter for families. Beginning Nov. 24, a list of gift items and age ranges will be available on the wreath in the Gathering Area. Return wrapped gifts by Dec. 14. We also need five volunteers to help deliver gifts on Sunday, Dec. 16.

ELCA Good Gifts — Purchase a pig, cow or chick this Christmas as part of ELCA Good Gifts. All purchases support communities in need around the globe. Select an ornament from the Good Gift Christmas tree in the Gathering Area. Return the ornament and payment to St. Stephen by Christmas Day.

Mitten Tree — Donate hats, gloves and scarves of all sizes. Hang your item on the mitten tree in the Gathering Area by Christmas Day.

Pantry Item December: Deodorant

URBANDALE FOOD PANTRY. In December, deodorant is the suggested personal care item. Donations can be left in the grocery carts outside of the Sanctuary.
Remember that monetary gifts are the greatest help to the food pantry, over and above donations of food.

Last month, St. Stephen donated 40 dry packaged foods, 61 cans and jars, and 9 personal items, along with 105 additional food items donated by VBS participants! A special thank you to all who made a donation.
