Dan Kuckuck

has served as pastor of St. Stephen since 2013. Faith for Dan is the lens used to make sense of the world: “When I think of God, I think of a constant friend and companion—one that supports, challenges, and encourages through the most joyful and difficult moments.” Dan grew up in Fredericksburg, VA, attended the University of Virginia to study psychology and religion, and the University of Chicago for seminary. He is a trained spiritual director.

Tucker O’Leary

started in 2018 as St. Stephen’s intern pastor, meaning he is completing his contextual learning as he prepares for leadership in ministry.

Tracy Sabus

is the Director of Faith Formation at St. Stephen, and has been since 2013. Tracy is passionate about building relationships and journeying with people in all of their beautiful and broken ways. She cares deeply for the Lutheran understanding that all people are simultaneously sinners and saints, and faith for her is the experience of God’s love and grace alongside others. Tracy attended Iowa State University after growing up in Parkersburg, IA.

Zach Hastings

has served as Director of Worship and Music at St. Stephen since 2016. Zach plans and organizes worship, serves as the organist, and directs the adult choir. Faith has always guided Zach to live with honesty and to value the learning potential of lived experiences. He currently studies organ with Dr. Miriam Zach after completing a Bachelor of Arts in Music at Iowa State University. Zach is a native of Ankeny, IA.

Angie Zenk

has been St. Stephen’s office manager since 2007, handling responsibilities of communication, bookkeeping, and hospitality. Her faith invites her to love others as God loves us. Because of this, she regards faith as something that instructs us to build one another up rather than tear down. Jesus’ wisdom of “doing unto others as you would have done unto you” has always guided decisions in her life. Angie is an alumna of Iowa State and grew up in Stratford, IA.

Jane Dieseth

started in 2007 as the Volunteer and Event Coordinator for St. Stephen. Jane’s faith is intertwined with her everyday life, and she highly values having the community of St. Stephen to help strengthen that faith.  Helping to feed and take care of people on Wednesday nights, at receptions, and funerals, as well as in her own life, is a way for her to practice faith in a concrete way. Jane’s hometown is St. Paul, MN, and she attended the University of Minnesota.

Doug Swanson

has been playing one instrument or another at St. Stephen since 2007; his current role is Praise Band Director and choir accompanist. Doug values how his faith strengthens him to have more loving and faithful relationships with others. He has passion for connecting weekly Bible readings to worship music. Doug completed a music education degree from Drake University, a Masters in Church Music from Concordia in Chicago, and is a native of Ottumwa, IA.

Kris Shay

has directed the handbell choir at St. Stephen for 11 years. Her earliest memories of church center around the music—listening to her mother play the pipe organ, or learning Christmas songs in Norwegian in choir.  Kris grew up in Rochester, NY, Madison, WI, and Iowa City in a family who was always singing or playing something.  She attended Augustana College in Rock Island and the Univ. of Iowa Dental School, and she has practiced dentistry for 37 years in Urbandale.
