Our Social Ministry Committee leads the congregation in its effort to extend Christian compassion and concern to those in need of assistance in body and soul. We have many ongoing missions, with the purpose and direction changing as human needs arise. Listed below are social ministry efforts in which we have been involved over the past year:
- Collecting Campbell Soup labels and box tops
- Pop top tabs for the Ronald McDonald House
- Collecting personal hygiene items for Broadlawn's Hospital (homeless persons)
- Des Moines Area Hunger Hike
- Community clean-up
- Visiting Mosaic homes
- Habitat for Humanity (Thrivent Builds)
- New Directions Shelter
- Blood Drives
- DMARC Food Pantry
- Urbandale Food Pantry
- World Hunger
- Clothes Closet
- Homes Together (housing for the homeless)
- Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN)
- Hosting Urbandale Senior Citizen luncheon
- Pancakes for Pantry
- Adopt-A-Family for Christmas (Urbandale Caring Corps)
- Adopt-A- Family for Christmas (Lutheran Services in Iowa)
